Got more questions? Please call Ronan De Guzman at Atticus Legal for more information about Immigration.
The 2 main immigration visas in New Zealand are a temporary entry class visa or a permanent visa. Depending on your type of visa, New Zealand permits the migrant to stay in the country legally for different purposes – visit, work, study or to live permanently.
Our Immigration team, led by Ronan De Guzman, are familiar with the New Zealand immigration law and policy and we help with visas for both onshore migrants and offshore migrants. We also assist New Zealand employers and residents who may want to sponsor migrants.
Initial Consultation
We charge an initial consultation fee of $200 (plus GST) for up to an hour. This would be included in the total cost if you engage us for your visa application (see further fee estimates below). If you do not wish to proceed, then our flat fee of $200 plus GST applies to the initial consultation.
Work Visa (WV)
A work visa allows a migrant to legally work for a New Zealand employer. There are various types of work visas ranging from Essential Skills Work Visa, Working Holiday Visa and Post-Study Work Visa. Our work visa application service also includes aid to New Zealand employers. Our fees for a work visa vary from $1,000 to $1,800 (plus GST) depending on the type of work visa.
Variation of Conditions (VOC Work visa)
Your New Zealand work visa contains conditions. The 3 main conditions are job title, company/employer and region of employment. If any of these details are going to change, you must first obtain approval from Immigration NZ for appropriate new conditions in order to continue lawfully working in NZ. Our fee on such applications is $700 (plus GST).
Work To Residence (WTR) Visa
A WTR visa application has 3 prerequisites:
WTR is one of the 2 pathways for residency to live in New Zealand. Once a WTR visa is approved and you continue to work for that accredited employer for 2 years, then you will be able to apply for a residency visa after 24 months. Our fee for the WTR application is $1,725 (plus GST).
Partnership Work Visa
This is a visa application where an eligible party to a relationship wants to sponsor a spouse/partner and obtain working rights in New Zealand. Our fee for this application is $1,300 (plus GST).
Dependent Child/Children under a Student Visa
This visa applies to a migrant who has a qualifying dependent child wanting to come to New Zealand under a student visa. Our fee for this application is $1,200 (plus GST) per child. However, we offer a discounted fee, for a family package in the case of applications for 2 or more children at the same time.
Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) Visa
Also known as the ‘Points System’, SMC is one of the main pathways towards residency where a migrant wants to live, work and/or study in New Zealand indefinitely.
The SMC visa application is based on a points system. Different criteria correspond to points. The criteria include qualification, work experience, age, skilled employment etc. For you to get an idea of how many points you can claim, a link to calculating your points is given below, but we can guide you for an assessment. Our initial consultation fee is $200 (plus GST) for up to an hour. This would be included in the total cost if you engage us for your SMC visa application.
The stages for the SMC visa application are as follows:
Our SMC visa application fee is $3,500 (plus GST) per applicant or $5,000 (plus GST) for a family.
Partnership Resident Visa
This visa application suits those migrants who wish to live permanently in New Zealand with their spouse/partner who holds a resident class visa or is a citizen. A discounted fee applies if your partnership work visa is obtained through us. If not, our fee is $2,500 (plus GST).
Student Visa
Our initial consultation fee is $ 200 (plus GST). But this initial fee is included in the total cost if/when you engage us on your student visa application. Our fee is $1,200 (plus GST).
Potentially Prejudicial Information (PPI)
During the processing of your visa application, you may receive a letter from an immigration officer. This is called “Potentially Prejudicial Information” (PPI) letter. It is a notice from Immigration NZ identifying information which may have a negative effect on the result of your application. We can help you identify the main issue and respond to the letter, properly addressing the query to satisfy the immigration officer. Our fee is from $1,500 (plus GST) depending on the complexity of the matter.
Section 61 Request
Section 61 of the Immigration Act provides an avenue for people who are in New Zealand ‘unlawfully’ to get back onto a lawful state by having a valid visa. We can assist overstaying migrant/s to come up with the solutions required. Our fee on this is $2,500 (plus GST) but may be more depending on the complexity of the application.
The above are fee estimates (not fixed price quotes) as the level of work required from us can vary from case-to-case. Additional attendances beyond the norm may be charged in addition at $220.00 per hour (plus GST).
The stated fees only represent our professional processing fee. An additional standard Immigration New Zealand application fee applies, depending on the type of visa application. Please click the link below to check on the standard Immigration NZ fees.
